NBC will broadcast its first-ever Saturday Morning "dramedy" when "Just Deal" joins the teen-oriented (TNBC) line-up this fall. The half-hour, single camera filmed series follows the friendship/relationship of Dylan, Jermaine and Ash, three teens from very different backgrounds who attend the same high school.
Dylan and Jermaine have been best friends since the sandbox, but their relationship shifts when Ashley arrives in their midst. A whirlwind, who's smart, funny and pretty, Ash makes "Just Deal" an anthem - not just for their trio, but for a generation - as she demonstrates through her actions and upbeat attitude that everybody's got problems -- you just have to deal. Ash's particular life issue is the loss of her father. Dylan is an extremely skilled soccer player but is struggling with school and will have a tough time deciding where his priorities lie. Jermaine, a genius, is biracial. His parents are divorced and remarried to people of their own race, making Jermaine unsure of where he fits in his own family. Jermaine plays soccer and is becoming an expert in Tae Kwon Do.
Executive producer Tom Lynch said: "'Just Deal' explores what it's like to grow up in a new millennium when kids' problems, successes, and failures are the same as they've always been, but the families and world they're living in are so much more complex."
Tom Lynch and Jessica Klein serve as executive producers/writers. "Just Deal" is from GEP Productions in association with the Tom Lynch Company.
