CHILD ABUSE INVESTIGATION ESCALATES INTO MURDER CASE INVOLVING NEGLECTFUL PARENTS -- Detectives Max (George Dzundza) and Mike (Mike Logan) investigate after a young girl is brought to the hospital with severe injuries and later dies. Lieutenant Donald (Donald Cragen) supervises as the detectives examine the child’s home life and uncover signs of prolonged abuse and neglect. Suspicion falls on the girl’s mother and her boyfriend, who offer conflicting explanations for the injuries. Prosecutors Ben (Ben Stone) and Paul (Paul Robinette) move forward with charges while District Attorney Adam (Adam Schiff) weighs the difficulty of proving criminal responsibility in a complicated child abuse case.
