NBC introduces a bold new take on a classic American comic-book world with "Riverdale," a drama series that reimagines the iconic characters of Archie Comics through a modern lens of mystery, romance, and small-town intrigue. Set in the seemingly quiet town of Riverdale, the series explores how the community is shaken after a tragic summer event, revealing that beneath the town’s wholesome façade lies a web of secrets, rivalries, and hidden dangers.
Based on characters from Archie Comics, the series follows high school student Archie Andrews, played by KJ Apa, as he navigates friendship, family expectations, and his passion for music while coping with the lingering impact of the mysterious death of local teenager Jason Blossom. Archie’s closest friends include the determined and outspoken Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) and the sharp, newly returned Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes), whose arrival brings both excitement and complications to the group.
Also central to the story is Jughead Jones, portrayed by Cole Sprouse, Archie’s thoughtful and observant friend who documents the unfolding events of Riverdale while searching for the truth behind the town’s growing mysteries. As relationships deepen and tensions rise, the teenagers begin to uncover the darker realities hidden within their community.
"Riverdale" combines suspenseful storytelling with romance, humor, and emotional drama, offering a modern reinterpretation of beloved characters while exploring themes of identity, loyalty, and the challenges of growing up in a town where nothing is quite as it seems.
"Riverdale" is developed for NBC by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and is produced by Warner Bros. Television in association with NBC Television Studios and Berlanti Productions.
