ED WILSON

Ed Wilson was named president of NBC Enterprises and Syndication in September 2000. He is responsible for the global distribution and exploitation of NBC-owned product, which includes foreign and domestic program syndication, strategic marketing and ancillary exploitation of owned product in home video, merchandising, licensing, music and publishing, as well as strategic production and co-production alliances and co-ventures. This programming includes all shows produced by NBC Studios, NBC News, CNBC and MSNBC output. He reports to Scott Sassa, president of NBC West Coast.

Wilson joined NBC after serving as president and chief operating officer of CBS Enterprises (CBE) and EYEMARK since January 1996. Wilson went to CBS when it acquired MaXaM Entertainment, a distribution company that Wilson launched in 1994 as a joint venture with the A.H. Belo Corporation and that had successfully established itself in the domestic syndication industry, opening three regional sales offices and selling five series and a film package.

Under Wilson’s leadership at CBE, EYEMARK became a major force in the industry, launching more than 15 series in virtually every first-run and off-network genre. In addition, he oversaw worldwide programming, international program sales and production, marketing, media sales, physical program distribution and consumer product activities for CBS Television.

In 1990, Wilson was recruited by Columbia TriStar Television Distribution as part of the team assigned to create a first-run division for that company, and to expand its off-net series and feature film sales.

Wilson began his career in 1980 as a sales trainee for Viacom, first based in New York and then in Dallas. He was later named account executive, then divisional manager for the company’s Midwest office in Chicago. Wilson then joined KATV in Little Rock as a sales manager. He returned to syndication as southwest division manager for Paramount, and was subsequently named Vice President, Southern Regional Manager and, later, Vice President, Eastern Regional Manager.

Wilson has served on the board of directors of NATPE International, the worldwide programming organization, as well as on the board’s executive committee. He is on the boards of the Hollywood Radio and Television Society, the University of Texas Communications panel, the NATPE Educational Foundation, and the Spine in Sports Foundation. Wilson is currently active in the non-profit organization ReREAD, which distributes reading materials to homeless shelters. He was also with the Big Brothers organization in Dallas.

A native of Rison, Arkansas, Wilson earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Arkansas. He resides in Pacific Palisades, California, with his wife, Leslie Zahn Wilson, and their two children, Ashley and Royce.
