Renee Jones portrays Dr. Lexie Carver on NBC's "Days of our Lives."
Jones has actually portrayed two very distinct roles on "Days of our Lives." In the late 80's, she was Salem PD secretary Nikki Wade, a woman who had a major crush on her boss, Abe Carver. Ten years after Nikki Wade left town, a more experienced and sophisticated Renee Jones finally got her man; Abe and Lexie married.
Born in Opa Locka, Florida, Jones was the youngest of five sisters and one brother. Her parents separated when she was an infant and her mother sent the children to live with their grandmother in Sparta, Georgia. When she was 10-years old, Jones' mother moved her family to Mt. Vernon, NY and worked two jobs to support her six children. Following her high school graduation, Renee landed a position at Yonkers Professional Hospital as an admitting clerk. With some work experience on her resume, Jones soon obtained a secretarial job at a radiology lab and set her sights on becoming a radiology technician.
But fate intervened, in the form of a friend, who suggested that Jones give modeling a try. She soon signed a contract with the renowned Ford Modeling Agency and by age 19; she was supporting herself modeling full-time and had garnered the distinction of being the first black model to appear on the cover of Teen Magazine.
Jones landed her first acting role on "The White Shadow" and appeared on "L.A. Law" playing the intelligent, ambitious Diana Moses, the love interest to Blair Underwood's character Jonathan Rollins. She made her feature film debut as one of Jason's victims in "Friday, the 13th, Part 6."
Jones has been nominated several times for the prestigious NAACP Image Award in the category of Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Drama, most recently in 2001.
In her spare time, Jones delights in reading, dancing and playing tennis. She lives in Los Angeles and her birthday is October 15.
